A dilapidated zoo offers a grieving family new hope in this uplifting and emotional tale, based on a true story. Shattered by their mum's death, the Mee clan are struggling to keep life together. So when one of the two kids is expelled from school, journalist dad Benjamin opts for a radical way of starting afresh: quitting his job and purchasing an old, rural house with a zoo attached. Here, a quirky team of keepers look after 200 exotic animals, but the place needs serious work to return it to its former glory. Despite having zero experience, Benjamin naturally throws himself into the challenge, facing money problems, teenage angst and an uncooperative government inspector as he races towards the grand reopening.
Slow burning, superbly acted drama about identifying and protecting family values.
