Synopsis

It's back to the beginning for the much-loved comic book hero in this origins adventure that puts a more realistic spin on the Peter Parker story. Excellently played by Andrew Garfield, the high school outcast wrestles with the angst and awkwardness of teenage life, as he tries to figure out who he is, and why his parents abandoned him when he was a child. The journey takes him to the lab of his dad's ex-partner, Dr Connors, where he receives the fateful spider bite that gives him his destiny-changing superpowers. Parker's first love, Gwen Stacy, and Connors' villainous alter-ego, The Lizard, add further complications, resulting in a reboot that combines emotional depth, humour and intense action.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."
