Synopsis
In his enthusiastic quest to connect people with film, Irish film lover and director Mark Cousins has followed his series The Story of Film with another idiosyncratic and highly personal documentary of musings on scenes from films – this time, looking at how children appear on screen in both well-known classics such as E.T. and The Red Balloon to little-seen, neglected treasures that he has unearthed from diverse corners of the globe. While targeted at adults, the film – which is narrated by the director himself – argues that childhood in its sense of discovery echoes the magic of cinema itself, a medium that is still in its infancy.
