Recently arrived in the UK, shy and scared Abdul is placed in a shelter for young asylum seekers. Here he meets a group of teenagers, all seeking asylum in the UK, each with their own story of how they got there and why they want to stay. As their fatherly English teacher Nigel takes them under his wing, helping them to learn English, supporting their asylum applications and adjustment to life in a different country, the film sensitively reveals the difficulties and emotions such young people face in this situation.
Contains discriminatory and strong bad language, sex references, brief gory images and drug use. This film also contains harrowing descriptions of child sexual abuse.
