Synopsis

A fresh take on the high school comedy-drama focusing on a tightknit group of teenagers who are proud to be thought of as outsiders, but refuse to be underdogs. Malcolm, Diggy and Jib are from ‘The Bottoms’ in suburban Los Angeles, devoted to ‘90s hip-hop and fashion and unabashedly into ‘white stuff’ such as their punk band and getting good grades. However, when Harvard-bound Malcolm is invited to a local drug dealers’ party, the trio can’t resist the chance to go along, despite the risks. Finding himself in possession of a large quantity of ‘Molly’ the next day with the dealer it belongs to locked up, Malcolm becomes embroiled in street dealing, but with his own unique ‘geeky’ take on shifting the product.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."
