10-year-old Sophie is lying awake in a London orphanage one night while everyone else is quietly dreaming. As she looks out of the window, she is shocked to see a 24-foot giant who picks her up and whisks her away to his home in Giant Country. Once she is there, Sophie discovers that the Big Friendly Giant is not so scary. However there are even bigger foes out there who want nothing more than to eat her up. As their friendship develops, the two lonely characters realise that they need to get rid of the other giants forever, so hatch a devious plan. This enchanting, visually sumptuous adaptation of Roald Dahl’s classic ignites the imagination, containing heartfelt lessons about learning to stand up for yourself and other human beans.
Set in 1931 Paris, an orphan living within the walls of a train station gets wrapped up in a mystery about his father.
