Today saw the opening of this year's Into Film Festival, and we were honoured to have BAFTA and Oscar-nominated actor Rosamund Pike officially launch our annual celebration of film and education at an event in London's Leicester Square.
Held at Vue West End, the event also featured a free screening of Steven Spielberg's adaptation of The BFG, where the primary school-aged audience dressed as their favourite Roald Dahl characters in celebration of the Roald Dahl centenary. The screening was one of nearly 3,000 taking place across the UK during the Festival, as part of the world's biggest free film festival for children and young people.
In the video above, you can watch highlights from the event, and see Rosamund talk about how impressed she was by the film knowledge that the young attendees possessed at such a young age. She also reveals her favourite Roald Dahl story, and spoke about the the incredible inspiration that watching a film - particularly in a cinema setting - can offer.

Rosamund Pike, who can next be seen in inspiring biographical drama A United Kingdom, in cinemas 25 November, spoke passionately about what the Into Film Festival means to her, and what it can mean for the young people that attend:
It's been a very exciting morning opening the Into Film Festival. To be in a crowded cinema full of young, enthusiastic film fans is a real joy because you realise that the work you are doing is going to reach future generations. I think just opening these young people's minds to the excitement and inspiration that's possible with film and combining that with education is an immense and important undertaking that Into Film is engaged with and the fact that they do all this for free is just incredible.
