Synopsis

In 1916 Charlie Chaplin signed a contract with The Mutual Corporation making him one of the highest paid entertainers in cinema. Mutual built Chaplin his own studio, giving him free reign to make whatever he wanted as long as he delivered at least 12 films across the year. Noted as one of the most creative periods of his career, Chaplin used these films to hone his famous tramp character resulting in numerous custard pie-fights, chase scenes, clowning and his renowned style of slapstick comedy.

What our educators say

"We are currently screening The Wizard of Oz, profound film that it is, and the last film Wall-E. It's been rewarding observing the KS1 6 year olds run the gamut of emotions from wonder to sadness to joy. "
