Synopsis

It’s Only the End of the World is the sixth film from French-Canadian prodigy Xavier Dolan who explores familiar themes of sexuality and family bonds in this theatrical chamber piece. Adapted from a play of the same name, the story sees Louis – a 34-year-old gay writer with a terminal illness – return home in order to reconnect with his family, having been estranged from them for twelve years. But Louis’ attempts at reconciliation do not go as planned, with some tension and hostility still apparent beneath the surface, leading to emotionally-charged, candid confrontations between the various family members.

What our educators say

"We are currently screening The Wizard of Oz, profound film that it is, and the last film Wall-E. It's been rewarding observing the KS1 6 year olds run the gamut of emotions from wonder to sadness to joy. "
