In the Himalayan mountains of Nepal there are small, rural communities, far away from any sort of civilisation, where parents make the decision to send their children to the city of Kathmandu in order to receive a better education. Away from their families for over a decade, some of these children have now reached an age where they must return to their communities and the parents they were separated from. Described as “the world’s longest walk home from school”, this documentary gives three of these children the chance to film their own stories as they make the dangerous journey, complete with earthquakes and avalanches, back into their past to reunite with their families.
