The story resumes the day after the events of the previous film on Day 474 of the alien attacks. With her husband now gone, Evelyn Abbott – plus her daughter Regan, son Marcus and the newborn baby – must find a way to survive without him. As their isolated home has been destroyed, they venture out to try and locate other survivors. After Marcus is caught in a trap and begins to scream, an old family friend, Emmett, reluctantly shelters them in his bunker. Whilst there, Regan and Marcus listen to a radio signal which plays the song ‘Beyond the Sea’ on a loop, and Regan soon realises that it’s a message meant to lead survivors to a nearby island. She determines to set out on a journey in the hope of finding permanent refuge for her family, but Regan must navigate the alien creatures which lie in wait. ‘A Quiet Place Part II’ retains the tension, suspense and set-pieces of the original while expanding the world of the franchise.
