Since his father was killed under mysterious circumstances, OJ Haywood has been struggling to keep the family business afloat. Operating out of their ranch in inland California along with his starry-eyed sister Emerald, they provide horses for Hollywood film productions but often find that the filmmakers lack respect for the animals on set. After a series of unexplainable occurrences, such as their power dropping out suddenly and a single unmovable cloud appearing in the sky, OJ and Emerald recruit a local alien enthusiast and video technician to help them document what they believe is a UFO. With the ranch next door, run by an infamous child TV star, also aiming to financially benefit from this new discovery, the Haywoods soon find themselves dealing with far more than they bargained for. Rich with ideas and unsettling in its execution, Nope addresses our relationship with the untamable and the human desire to document our existence.
