Synopsis

This sequel to the live-action reimagining of The Lion King explores the unlikely rise of the beloved king of the Pride Lands, Mufasa, Simba’s father. With the reality of fatherhood testing his nerve, Simba enlists Rafiki, the enigmatic baboon, to relay the legend of Mufasa to Kiara, the cub he has been raising with Nala. Told in flashbacks, the story introduces Mufasa as an orphaned cub, lost and alone until he meets a sympathetic lion named Taka—the heir to a royal bloodline. The chance meeting sets in motion an expansive journey of an extraordinary group of misfits, such as the iconic Timon and Pumbaa, searching for their destiny, with their bonds being tested as they work together to evade a threatening and deadly foe.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."
