By the 1920s, many Irish people had decided that military action was the only way that British rule of their country would be brought to an end. This is the story of two brothers who fight together against the British, but later find themselves on opposite sides of a civil war that breaks out after the Irish Free State comes into existence. This is history not from the point of view of the powerful, but of the ordinary people who find themselves caught up in the big events of their time.
Romantic saga set in rural Ireland in 1916, about a wilful young woman who marries a sympathetic older man, though she is not ready to settle down.
