A powerful story about 17-year-old Maria, a young woman from the South American country of Colombia who agrees to act as a "mule" for a gang of drug traffickers. Life has been hard for Maria for as long as she can remember, so after finding out that she's pregnant, she decides she has to get out. And when she's made the offer of quick cash and the promise of a better life, she takes it - even if it means swallowing pellets full of drugs and getting on a flight to New York. This is a tough and tense drama with an amazing performance from Catalina Sandino Moreno as Maria.
This film has a few uses of strong bad language and a drug smuggling theme.
