This resource is designed to give young people a chance to discuss the issues that affect them as they grow up - namely smoking, sex and relationships, drinking alcohol and taking illegal drugs.Using films such as indie-comedy Submarine, coming-of-age drama The Myth of the American Sleepover, and the more intense Now Is Good, this resource will allow young people to identify with on-screen characters and discuss their behaviour in a non-personal, non-judgmental environment. Also included in the resource are relevant facts, figures, and organisations young people may want to get in contact with themselves if they have been affected by any of the issues in the films.
We have developed a large catalogue of educational resources since launching in 2013, and some references and terminology will inevitably have dated as society and language evolves. We are aware of this and will be updating resources when our production schedule allows.
