A young Bangladeshi woman Nazneen comes to England to settle in London's East End, trapped in a loveless arranged marriage and isolated in a new, strange country where both racial prejudice and religious fanaticism seem to be on the rise. This adaptation of Monica Ali's Man Booker Prize-nominated novel is a vivid, tragicomic tale of modern immigrant life, lifting a lid on lives that are invisible to many and looking at the capital through Nazneen's fresh eyes as she slowly begins to flourish in her new surroundings.
Uplifting comedy-drama about a teenage runaway making his way in London, starring Tom Turgoose and directed by Shane Meadows.
