Taking place on 27 January each year, Holocaust Memorial Day ensures that, as time moves on and we find ourselves ever-further removed from the horrific events of World War II and the Holocaust, we still keep in mind the lessons to be learnt from such unspeakable tragedy.
As per the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust (HMDT), the day encourages remembrance in a world scarred by genocide; a way to remember the six million Jews murdered during the Holocaust, alongside the millions of other people killed under Nazi persecution and in subsequent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia, Darfur and around the world.
This year's Holocaust Memorial Day marks the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi death camp during World War II.
While we believe film can be a perfect tool to help broach many topics in an accessible way, it's perhaps even more useful when it comes to the horrors of the Holocaust, which many of us today will struggle to comprehend.
Engage young people in your Into Film Club or classroom with issues surrounding the Holocaust by browsing our specially curated film list and free resources below, including our new film guide looking at 1959's The Diary of Anne Frank.
