Black History Month
1 October - 1 November
Using stimulus from the film Belle and from the V&A Museum's collections, this resource brings complex social, historical and political concepts to life. In a range of activities, students explore the challenges faced by the film's characters and relate these to wider issues of race, class and gender that remain relevant today. Students will be stimulated and challenged to develop higher order thinking skills such as analysis, evaluation and creation.
This resource supports a range of curriculum areas and can be used in cross-curricular programmes of study and comprises activity outlines and supporting worksheets for students and is designed to be used in conjunction with the accompanying Belle presentation, featuring key clips and images from the V&A museum's collections.
We have developed a large catalogue of educational resources since launching in 2013, and some references and terminology will inevitably have dated as society and language evolves. We are aware of this and will be updating resources when our production schedule allows.
