Synopsis

Wes Anderson’s meticulously ornate-looking comic caper, stuffed with bizarre characters played by big-name actors, transports us back to a luxurious European hotel in the ‘20s, where Gustave H is a respected concierge steeped in tradition. When he is left a priceless painting by a beloved occupant who has passed way suddenly, he enlists bellboy Zero Moustafa – a refugee subjected to discrimination as the war looms - to help him hide it from her relatives, who are circling her riches like crows. A cross-country chase ensues, as the menacing relatives of the demised guest determine to get their hands on the spoils – at any cost.

What our educators say

"Some of them saw a clip from Wakolda (The German Doctor) on TV recently and really wanted to watch it. So I thought I’d take a chance, not expecting them to watch the whole film but the majority were absolutely gripped. "
