A powerful depiction of the terrible events in Cambodia in the 1970s, when a fanatical regime killed hundreds of thousands of their own people. This excellent drama uses the friendship between an American journalist and his Cambodian translator (played by Haing S Ngor, a non-actor who was a survivor of the events being portrayed) as our starting point for trying to begin to understand what went on in that tragic chapter of human history.
Forest Whitaker gives an Oscar-winning performance as Idi Amin, the Ugandan dictator in this riveting story of power gone mad.
