It may be more traditional than the famous modern version starring Leonardo DiCaprio, but this earlier adaption of Shakespeare's tale of star-crossed lovers was just as controversially received when it was released. Not only did it streamline the action by cutting half of the play's dialogue, but - for the first time - the two leads were played by actual teenagers. The story is as engrossing and as heart breaking as ever, and there are some terrific supporting performances.
This film contains mild sex references, moderate violence, natural nudity.
