Ten new National Geographic documentaries are now available to stream on Into Film+ Premium, offering classrooms an understanding of the impact of revolutionary technology in far-flung corners of the universe through a breathtaking cinematic lens.
The documentaries are suitable for upper primary and secondary school audiences, and relate to subjects including Science, Geography, History and Design & Technology, in addition to exploring topics such as space and planets, robots and artificial intelligence, human rights, climate change, and extreme sports. The highly immersive visuals are accompanied by clear and accessible narration, delivered in an engaging manner by filmmakers and field experts.
Discovering space
From the expanse of the universe captured by the Hubble Space Telescope, its 25-year history told in Hubble's Cosmic Journey, to the search for life on our neighbouring planet, charted in Mars: One Day on the Red Planet, these documentaries showcase the advancement in technology to explore outer space remotely, bringing dazzling images and research data back to Earth. The thrilling prospect of people embarking on space travel is explored in Apollo: Missions to the Moon, which also recognises the dangers taken by astronauts, and also by school teachers in the case of Challenger Disaster: Lost Tapes.
Exploring our world
The most remote corners of planet Earth are the focal point of this next set of documentaries. Expedition Everest follows a group of scientists to the world's highest peak to gather information about climate change. The Himalayas also set the scene for a family's journey in Torn, a personal documentary about the legacy of a legendary mountaineer who lost his life on an expedition. On the other side of the world, Akashinga: The Brave Ones takes us deep into Zimbabwe's nature reserves, where endangered wildlife is protected by an all-female squad of anti-poachers.
Uncovering history
Atlantis Rising delves into the archaeological evidence behind a mythological utopian city that has captured the imaginations of the Ancient Greeks and Hollywood filmmakers alike. Still on the topic of ancient civilisations, Buried Truth of the Maya accompanies a group of explorers below the surface of a temple in Mexico in search for secret chambers. The discovery and excavation of an abandoned slave ship in Alabama serves as an important testimony to past injustices, and the history and impact of this finding are contextualised in the documentary Clotilda: Last American Slave Ship.

To access Into Film+, all you'll need is an Into Film Account - it's completely free, and only takes a moment to set up. Into Film+ is free to use for all UK state schools that hold a valid Public Video Screening (PVS) Licence from Filmbankmedia.
Filmbankmedia PVS Licences are paid for on behalf of schools by all local authorities in England and by some local authorities in both Wales and Scotland. Into Film NI cover the license cost for some schools in Northern Ireland. For further information on licensing in your locality please see our FAQs.
If you don't have a PVS Licence, or aren't already covered, then a licence can easily be obtained from Filmbankmedia.
