We are delighted to once again team up with Regional Screen Scotland for 'Wee Review' - a brand new monthly review writing competition aimed at encouraging budding young film critics across rural Scotland through the Screen Machine mobile cinema programme.
Into Film and Regional Screen Scotland have been working in partnership for many years to offer FREE school screenings to schools onboard the Screen Machine - Scotland's unique mobile cinema that brings the magic of the big screen to communities all over Scotland.
With 'Wee Review' we wanted to create a new opportunity for more young people to watch and write about the films they have watched on the Screen Machine with winners being chosen each month. Those accomplished reviewers will bag some great prizes including film-related goodies and free cinema tickets, and will have their review published on the Into Film website.
What an amazing experience, the children loved it! It's great to have the opportunity to go to the cinema in such a rural area. The review writing was very well organised. The presenter was friendly, calm and engaging. Everyone enjoyed writing their reviews.

Review writing is a great way for young people to develop their literacy skills and creativity, and to express themselves. It is also a great career option in the film industry so encouraging reviewing at a young age can potentially go a long way.

Review: Inside Out is an amazing film. It has a girl who is moving to San Francisco and is not happy with it. It was interesting because you can see inside someone's head. I liked when Fear was scared of something Anger would shout. It is worth buying a ticket!
Emily, 10 Ullapool Primary
Name of Film: Wonder
Stars: 5
Review: Well I can't explain how much I like this film but overall it was outstanding just like the boy in the film who has facial deformities. There was parts where people were losing friends and parts where people realise who they really are and that they mean a lot to the world. One of the sad parts was when the dog died and one of the good things was when the boy made lots of friends. I would say I probably had a favourite part but the whole film was AMAZING!

The Director of Regional Screen Scotland, Robert Livingston had this to say about the partnership and competition: "Regional Screen Scotland are proud of our long standing partnership with Into Film, and of being able to use the Screen Machine to support Into Film's work in the Highlands and Islands. The Wee Review Competition is a great fit with our own aim of encouraging wide ranging feedback from our audiences, who are scattered across half the landmass of Scotland!"
Meanwhile, Into Film Programme Delivery Manager, Kirsty Gallagher commented: "The Screen Machine is such a special venue and a wonderful opportunity to bring the cinema experience to the most rural locations in Scotland. Through this competition we hope to incentivise local young Scots to write about films they have seen on board the Screen Machine as a means of inspiring a shared passion and enjoyment for film as well as fostering creativity, imagination and an opportunity to share views and recommendations with others".

Terms & Conditions
- The author of the review must be between 5-19 on date of entry.
- The author of the review must have attended a Screen Machine screening.
- The competition is open to UK residents only.
- To be eligible for the prize, entrants must, if contacted, provide an address for the prize to be delivered to.
- Entries must be submitted by parent or guardian on behalf of the author to edinburgh@intofilm.org. Entries would need to include the young person's first name and age. Once a winner has been chosen Into Film will contact the parent/guardian via email to get an address to send the prize to.
- The competition is open until June 2022
